Distinguishing Borealosuchus and Brachychampsa teeth
Othniel C. Marsh posted a topic in General Fossil Discussion
Is there actually any means of distinguishing Brachychampsa and Borealosuchus teeth, particularly those from the Hell Creek Formation? Insofar as I can see Brachychampsa teeth tend to more globular than those of Borealosuchus, but I have noticed that some Brachychampsa teeth, particularly those closer to the back of the jaw, can be quite elongate, so is there an identifying feature besides shape?- 2 replies

I found this a while back amidst the red-zone in the Ozan. I'm not sure whether to label it as Globidens sp. or Brachychampsa sp. I'm leaning towards Globidens sp. but would like to know what y'all thought. @JohnJ Apologies in advance about the scale switching back and forth got distracted whilst photographing. Top view (scale in mm): What looks like feeding wear on the (lingual?) side (scale in inches): Feeding wear (within red indicator line) labial? side: Basal: Thanks in advance, - James

Greetings! I am glad to be here. I work with living crocodilians and have a growing interest in their ancestors, specifically the Crocodylomorphs (I often just call them "crocs" when in the Paleo context). I have a small, but growing collection of fossils. I'm interested in learning of others' "croc" fossil finds, knowledge and experience, and to share mine, as well. I have been since I was a child in awe of these remarkable Archosaur-line reptiles that survived the dinosaur extinction event and swim in my backyard today. I enjoyed browsing the photos and threads related to "crocs" and look forward to my experiences here. Thanks for having me, and thank you to the founders and moderators/administrators of this fine forum.

Here are several bones that may possibly be crocodilian or from a small dinosaur. The two smaller ones look somewhat like phalanges. The larger on seems to be a tibia but not sure what from. Any identification of these bones would be a great help. If you go to fossil.swau.edu and type 18615, 18828, or 22119 into the browse tab you can view a 360 degree animations of these bones.
