Hello, I originally just popped on here to see if anyone knew if my vertebra find was a fossil or not, but I'm kinda liking this site!! I first discovered my fossil crazy passion a few years ago camping at Dinosaur Provincial Park. I quickly became obsessed with searching for "bones". It was 40 degrees down there and the mosquitos were eating me alive, but I didn't notice or even care! It was all about finding finding finding! The next year I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm, but survived with very little deficits. I should have died. My new "lease" on life has encouraged me to get out and do what makes me the happiest, so now, every summer, I take a week vacation away from everyone and take off for the Alberta Badlands! It's my most favorite place! I have relatives that live on the edge of them, so I stay with them and I roam free all day, everyday, with nothing to worry about except the rattlers. I've taken Dino 101 the free course online - loved it! I've been on a few day excavations through the Park and my cousin is married to someone who's Mom was one of the 1st female amateur paleontologists in Alberta. Her son had no interest in any of her findings, so I have in my possession all that she collected! I have made myself quite familiar with fossils and just love everything about them. I look forward to chatting with like minded people on here!

This summer I took off to the Alberta badlands. My cousins live on the edge, so their home was my home while I was gone all day every day for almost a week. I was in heaven! Nothing to worry about except the snakes. I came across everything from crocodile scutes and teeth, turtle back, an awesome raptor tooth, lots of vertebrae, to an amazing hadrosaur's metatarsal and another huge bone that I couldn't get close to for fear of falling. I tend to take it easy when I'm alone in the middle of no where!! See photos. Can't wait to return next year!!
