To all of you reading this please make sure to lock your trucks and watch your gear like a hawk while visiting this place. I am a novice fossil hunter, but I am also an avid surf fisherman and I figured I would give this place a try and hope to find some fossils. When I got there the water looked beautiful and I just so happened to have my fishing gear in my truck so I took it down to the beach with me. After taking a couple of casts I put my rod and reel setup along with my tackle bag along the bluff and decided it was time to look for fossils. I couldn't have been more than 50 yards away from my gear while I was at my farthest point and 10 minutes after putting it down I made my way back to fish again and everything was missing. In the 10 or so minutes I was looking for fossils, somebody swooped down and made off with almost $1,500 of my fishing gear, so everybody PLEASE be extra careful. Always keep your cars locked and do not take your eyes off of any of your valuables for even a second. I am a broke college student who saved up for almost a year to buy my fishing gear and not even a month after finally being able to afford it somebody stole it all. So please do not be stupid like I was and ALWAYS keep your valuables close to you.
mineralman_85 posted a topic in OntarioHi, I am from Ottawa, Canada. I am 31 male, my wife is 27 female. We are both mineral collector and spend at least 1 or 2 days a month going out for gemstones and other minerals or fossils. We have visited at least 80 sites in the past 3.5 years....We mostly visit abandoned mines but have found our own spots for semi precious stones, metals and radioactives. I am looking for someone who wants to go on a small day trip for fossils or minerals. I personally do not drive (epilepsy)..My wife will drive on some day trips if I can find someone on here who is easy going and seems solid to be around... If you drive, I can pitch half on gas and we can go collecting as well....Its up to you.. I am willing to go with a male or female or both, or a few people. I am strictly interested in meeting like-minded people who share a love of the outdoors, and nothing more. Same goes for my wife..She will offer to drive sometimes if you would like that after I determine someone is decent to hang around...We fish as well.. If you are interested or have any questions let me know...
hi, i am considering a kayak for multi-purpose use. mainly i plan to use to explore and hunt a few nj streams for fossils, but i'll also use it for fishing bays and maybe ocean. i'd also like to take it to maryland/va. and in the longer term to south carolina for the same purpose. i wanted to hear pros/cons of sit-on vs sit-in kayaks from fellow board members who have experience with their own kayaks before i make a decision. i'm looking to buy used and have the patience to wait for a good fit. thanks!!
