Hello! I've been collecting fossils and minerals, since I was a child. Each item has a story and I remember them all quite well. Although they are common, for some reason I really enjoy collecting crinoid stems of all shapes and sizes. Here in my area, we have them in abundance along with other marine species. Oh and for any wondering, I'm always cautious to never take from places that are illegal, such as the National Park where I am a volunteer or intern and any other places where it is illegal to do so. Most of my discoveries are from creeks and places where I've obtained permission or a permit. I believe in Leave No trace Ethics and I'm searching for the fun and scientific contribution, not for the glory or riches. I'd wanted to be a Geologist since middle school and was presented a letter of recommendation and Geology text book by my science teacher in high school. Though I'm a behind a few years on my goal, I'm finally starting to make plans to obtain my degree. Anyone else here from Kentucky, especially south central area??

On the last day of our Scotland tour we were in Glasgow so naturally I had to check out the Hunterian Museum located within the University of Glasgow and Fossil Grove in Victoria Park. The museum isn’t just a natural history museum but it had quite an impressive collection of smaller fossils (it’s not a large museum at all). Fossil Grove was very interesting, though I wish it was a bit bigger and had a couple of souvenirs we could have purchased. I think I spent maybe 10 minutes in the building, which was cool and damp and a nice respite from the heat that was building up outside. It was fun to imagine the whole city once being covered by these trees and the giant creepy crawlies that would have inhabited the forest.
