GM everyone, When searching for sharks teeth, it is often helpful to have a good head lamp, even in the day. The light reflects off the enamel. Obviously, good to have one for night/early morning digs as well. Being a beginner, I have taken our hiking headlamps when I dig. But they are weak. Prob. no more than 1500 lumens. ANyone have headlamp recommendations out there? I would think 50,000 lumens and above at least. What do others use? TB

Magnifying glass to look for serrations or small details?
LordWampa posted a topic in Questions & Answers
Hi, Maybe it's a stupid question, but when you try to identify teeth and have to look at super small serrations, do you use just a magnifying glass? Or is there something else that it's better? Any recommendations? Thanks! -
I was using my UV flashlight the other day and realized some stuff glow, I want to see what other people have found that is fluorescent, so far I have realized that a couple feathers and septarian glow under ultra violent light. Before After

I'm thinking of investing in a quality work light to serve dual purpose identifying/prepping fossils and also in my woodworking adventures. Do ya'll use combo light/magnifying lamps? What works, what doesn't work? What spectrum works best for you? Any suggestions for best bang for the buck? Thanks

This is not what I imagined for a first tooth find (at least I think it's a tooth), not even close. Found this earlier in the empty lot next to the hotel I work at (we own the lot as well). Just laying there, partly buried & I almost stepped on it. Its extremely light, just 9.7 gm or 3/4 oz and in very bad shape. 1 5/16 inches long x 1 3/16 inches wide. I realize it's most likely modern, but I still want to know just what mouth this came out of if possible.
