Some fossils have finally made it into the living room.

Not too long ago I purchased a very nice Campanile giganteum gastropod, something I had been wanting for a long time, and shortly thereafter I also acquired an Encrinus liliformiis crinoid, also a long-held wish from me. My loving wife liked these so much that she suggested herself that I place them in a prominent place in the living room. Needless to say, I was extremely pleased with this new development, not only because of the fact that I was starting to run out of space for new acquirements in my display room. Since there was also an extra shelf underneath the place next to the TV we had chosen for these fossils, she even came up with the suggestion that I could put a few more on it. So without further ado I went about selecting some of my favorites which I thought to be passing for the ensemble. I found none of these myself, although they are either gifts or acquirements from friends and colleagues who gave them to me in raw condition for preparation. They are from left to right: Procerites hodsoni, Scyphocrinus elegans, Stephanoceras humphriesianum, Cockerellites liops, and Coroniceras rotiforme.- 15 replies

I found this clip online. It claims to show some sort of pterosaur, and by the looks of it, a tapejarid. It seems like it couldn't be a bird, or any other creature. It has a tall, rounded off crest, rounded wing tips(showing that this was most likely not modeled), a short tail, and short legs. Any idea if this could in any way be real?

Hey all! I will be posting an update soon, but I recently took a quick trip to Penn Dixie to find a few bugs. Came home with quite a few little specimens. I have a question for the prep masters among us. I live in a very clean apartment (due to my wife) and have very little options for prepping the trilos I found there. What tools or techniques would you recommend that don't involve sand blasting or compressors?

Hello, my name is Cody. Born and raised in Texas. I work as a Designer at Fossil, the watch company. Funny coincidence. Since I was a little kid I have been starring at the ground looking for cool rocks. Now at 30, it's becoming more of a hobby. My friends and I do a lot of camping and backpacking and canoe trips. Sometimes in very remote locations. We are always searching for fossil on our trips. I've only recently started going out specifically to hunt fossils. After a few trips to the Sulphur River, I was hooked. I posted my first good finds on TFF under Fossil Trips before I realized there was a member introductions topic. So just wanted to make it official and formally introduce myself. I look forward to learning new things from TFF members and hopefully contributing as well. Thank you Sulphur River Finds 12/10/16
