These were found in O’Fallon MO in a road cut. I think in the Fern Glen formation. Any help with ID would be much appreciated!

Weird Black Shale Fossil+ some conodont teeth fragments (Missouri)
Samurai posted a topic in Fossil ID
Location: Warrensburg, Missouri Period: Pennsylvanian Formation: Unknown Hello! I happened to have had an opportunity to visit land owned by one of my friends and decided to split some of the black shales. I happened to come across something that seems familiar but I just can't seem to place a name on it as of yet. So far I have found 2 specimens, and I'm not sure if one is just infilling of the original mold or something other. Unfortunately they were in already weathered sections of shale and I could not retrieve the other halves of the shales. In case it helps with identifications, I have found listracanthus denticles, conodont elements, very faint orbiculoidia? shells/fragments, and some nodules that were not compacted enough for me to take thin sections of. Specimen #1: What appears to be a mold of the specimen. Very faint shell fragments are visible to the right and upper portion form the specimen Specimen #2: And lastly for anyone who is interested, here are images of the conodonts! Another conodont tooth fragment seen on the left side: I didn't do any size measurements on the conodonts or use the CAI to determine anything as I'm not experienced in the later but would love any input! Thanks for taking time out of your day to read all this!- 3 replies

A lot going on with this one. The honeycomb structure as well as what appears to be the head and spine of some type of small creature. It measures 10.5” in length.

Hey I was camping on the H Roe. Bartle scout reservation when I found these fossils. I’m not familiar with the fossils of the area, so I’m not sure of the age. Any ideas on what they are? I appreciate any help!

Hay folks, As promised I'd put out some of what I've found here in Texas. first I had to do some research on where I found this stuff. I have a job a little ways West, North/West of Fredericksburg. Just below the Llano uplift. I'm having a good time turning a hay barn into a hunting lodge on 400 some-odd acres all by myself. If some wants to look it up it's towards the end of Live Oak Creek. The maps say It's in Cretaceous(Comanche), though I believe it goes down much farther. There is a bluff close to the creek. from where the last rays of sun touch to the bottom of the creek is +- 125 feet in about 100 yards. That's a lot of time in layers of rock. I haven't gone and checked it out because it's on someone else's property but I think I saw granite, If it isn't it is really red and solid in the creek bed. To put it simply I'm not really sure about the age of these rocks. I was hoping to pin it with the Brachiopods but I can't find them. They seem to have a very distinctive ridge and ribs to them, and I find the every were. What I've found has been on the surface or in the creek bed I've done no digging, except post holes and I did find one of the sponges in the dirt that way. I'm in one big flood plane where this structure is. I've not made any real effort to go looking for fossils.... YET. Not to bad for just taking a walk for an hour or two, or picking up as I see them. After all I am supposed to be working!
