Hello from Southern Ontario. Fossil newbie. Multiple fossils are being uncovered when fencing an old hay field. Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone! I'm a young fossil enthusiast from Ontario, Canada. I've been interested in joining this forum for a few weeks now and finally decided to join yesterday. I am in awe of the sheer knowledge and resources on here, and I can tell I'm going to be spending a lot of time here in the future! I can't say I know the most about fossils and prehistory, but I hope I can eventually contribute in some way! Have a great day!

Hey everyone! I found my first fossil last weekend in a creek near the Don River in midtown Toronto. From my knowledge reading through this forum, it seems to be packed with crinoid stem fossils. I’d really appreciate a confirmation, to learn more about the age of the fossil and maybe even the species.

Hi, I'm relatively new to fossil hunting and I'd like to know of some spots to find stuff in or close to Essex county. I've been to Arkona for the Rock Glen conservation area and found some cool ones there, though I'm disapointed the quarry is closed off. If anyone knows of other spots around there that would be cool too! Thanks! Edit: Any tips for getting into quarries? There's a few around here and I think those might be good spots to check out. (I don't mean trespassing lol)

I can't figure out a species, or really any classification for this one. It came from the Hungry Hollow member of the Widder Formation in southern Ontario. My first thought would be greenops widderensis, but it lacks genal spines (or places where they could have broken off), as well as defined "bumps" (idk the right term) present on specimens I find on the internet. I don't think they could have eroded away either, because there are fine details still present. I'm thinking maybe Phacops rana? I'm new to this so not really sure. An interesting note, the little bumps on the top of the glabella are only present where there was no matrix when I found it, not really sure what that would mean. Here's how I found it Sorry for the bad quality, I took this on my phone. Thanks!

Hello have been lurking the past couple days but I decided to make an account to view the good stuff! I have a small collection from online purchases/gifts but I have also been out hiking and found a couple orthocones. Looking forward to learning more about old dead animals transmuted into rocks and hopefully going out to find some more of my own! Also you guys got some cute emoticons
