Okay so now that I have found a group of individuals to help me identify.... I would love to know what find of petrified wood I have collected.. species and mineralization would be helpful. I have stuff that I can't find online. I'll start with the first two that I can't even tell if they are wood or not... All help is incredibly appreciated. Found these two river tumbled pieces south of Green River, Utah. Jurassic I think? Very different from everything else in the field.. Looks agatized? Thank you! Trenton
DeepTimeIsotopes posted a topic in Fossil Hunting TripsAnother snow storm has swept through here so how about we take a trip to Southern Utah in mid-June. I will be straightforward with you, I didn’t get many fossils from this trip but if you would like to hear my tale of woe read on! Let’s start out with the stratigraphy column. You’ll notice most of it is red. If you’ve read some of my other trip reports you’ll probably know what that means, no fossils to report from this area. My structural geologist buddies had a blast, though, so beware a lot structural and sedimentary geology ahead. I’ll save talking about the Wahweap Formation for the end.

Dinosaur Impression found near tropic shale formation behind Big Water Utah. Total size of rock is about 12x14, and impression of skull is about 1x1.5 in. Impression appears to me like possibley more than one animal, although I can only make out one head. Looking for possible species indentification, thoughts or opinions. Thank You.
