My very last split shift

Ludwigia

Recommended Posts

Monday was the last time that I did a split shift before I'm headed off to full retirement at the end of the year, so as usual, I took advantage of the hours in between and headed off to the Kimmeridgian site in the ditch in the upper Danube Valley. Found a few nice things again this time. Well, winter is closing in, so I probably won't be back there again until the springtime now, but it won't be going away, since I seem to be the only collector that's interested in it. Lots of sponge amongst those ammos this time.

Thanks :) Actually I've been officially retired for 4 years already and was just working part-time, so I've been getting in some practice already. I think I might just do a bit more fossil collecting :ninja:

I must say, I am rather proud of it. You should have a peek at my gallery albums if you're interested.

I'm in the middle of a sponge reef there, so they just can't be avoided :P

Congrats on retiring.... again. lol  Those sponges are interesting but rather amorphous. Preservation was not kind. Are they not siliceous sponges?

The sponges are calcified and as you surmise correctly, not necessarily always in the best of shape.

And judging by how well you break rocks when you're over here, you're far from old. :hammer01: :)
