Sassy PaleoNerd
as a connoisseur of Pterosaurs, I wanted to ask the Community here to show me it's pterosaur fossils from the Kem Kem Formation. After seeing a rare Tapejarid Premaxilla recently get sold on a Fossil Dealing site (labeled incorrectly as Alanqa), I wondered what treasures could be present in Private Collections in this Community. Teeth are just as welcome as Bones are.
msantix
I have this partial pterosaur jaw from the Kem Kem which i asked about on the forum a while back. It is missing some bone structure on the sides but it is quite large at 23cm long (9 inches). It has the triangular cross section which is characteristic of Alanqa Saharica (and it is elongated like Alanqa). I know some other people have some beak fragments from the Kem Kem as well. Also could you post a picture of the Tapejarid Premaxilla - would love to see what it looked like!.

Here it is, it's easilly identified by the fact that Tapejarids have foramina very close to the occlusal margin. Also yes, that is Alanqa indeed.
msantix
Oh i saw that listing a while back, it certainly is a rare fossil - no idea who bought it. The Alanqa jaw fragment i showed was id'ed by a Pterosaur expert in England - he has been extremely helpful!. These aren't mine but i know the guy who found them from the Kem Kem, that might be worth showing. I think the first one might be a Pterosaur metatarsal - although it is hard to know for sure from one angle.

I agree that the first bone is a metatarsal, the second one is probably a proximal wing phalange.
