OcarinaMC
Hi, I found this on Penrhyn Bay beach in North Wales UK. Does anyone have an idea what it might be? Tidgy's Dad
Looks like a solitary rugose 'horn' coral to me. Probably Lower Carboniferous in age from that region. Hello, and a very warm welcome to TFF from Morocco. I'm half Welsh and spent many a happy day studying the geology of Snowdonia. Holidays with family in Llandudno and Penrhyn Bay too. 1 Life's Good! Mark Kmiecik
+1 Rugose horn coral. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
OcarinaMC
Thanks very much for your help and information. I did come across rugose corals while I was googling, but they all seemed to have obvious 'spokes' at the top going towards the centre, so I thought this could possibly be something different. 23 hours ago, Tidgy's Dad said: Looks like a solitary rugose 'horn' coral to me. I'm very lucky to live in Llandudno! ☺️
