Norbert
I have a couple of what appear to be worm fossils - can anyone shed any light on them? Found inside a slate/stone slab that I split. Northern UK about 3.5 inches long

connorp
They look like burrows of some kind. Possibly created by a worm, but maybe not.
Rockwood
I get the sense that this was something worm shaped (vermiform) that ingested sediment as it burrowed and excreted the indigestible elements as back fill.
grandpa
Hello, Norbert and welcome to TFF from Austin, Tx. You will find a great group of amateur and professional fossil enthusiasts in this forum who gladly welcome questions such as yours because we all learn from them together. I'd suggest you also do a search on ichnofossils and trace fossils to get a better sense of what you have found. Again, welcome.
