HaidaGwaiiBeachFinds
Hi Everyone, This is a beach-find from Haida Gwaii, Canada. I realize it’s not a fossil, but perhaps because someone has already said it’s most likely bone- I was looking for more help to narrow (or marrow!) it down. Approx 20cmx20cm Thank you!! I appreciate your input.
Pterygotus
From the pictures given, it doesn’t look like bone although I’m interested to see what’s on the bottom of the last picture. Mineral maybe?
caldigger
Those look like maybe Calcite crystals. Have you attempted to drop a little bit of vinegar on it to see if it reacts ( bubbles )?
Rockwood
I can see a geologist having experience with bones that (sort of) preserved in this manner only with context to provide evidence of bone in that case. It's not much but maybe it's a nudge toward plausibility.
Ludwigia
Could also be kryptocrystalline quartz. Don't see any bone substance there in the photos though. Where does your geologist see it? 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

Another front runner is Misty Agate, but for an amateur it’s too difficult to make a ruling!
