Lizards in Amber

Mousehead

Recommended Posts

Bugs are cool, but lizards are cooler.  Apologies to any resident entomologists.  Here are some new vertebrates in my amber collection:

- Chiapas amber from Mexico: 4cm lizard hips & tail on top of a nearly complete leaf (17-25myo)

- Burmite amber: fat lizard tail (99myo) – is this a gecko?  As a kid I had house geckos as pets and their tails were pretty similar.

Maybe one day I'll be able to afford the whole lizard.

That last pic is one healthy chunk of amber!!!

Its even a bigger bonus to have recognizable things within it.

Great stuff!

If you can get someone to micro CT scan it it might become easier to identify the species.
