It got me for a while too when I was used to the Makos of the Miocene

A worn tooth can be deceptive. I immediately thought Mako when I spotted it, but it couldn’t be.

Which part?  There are shark teeth sites in Alabama, too...and mine kinda suck compared to others I’ve seen from same area.
