We enjoy and welcome new members--especially ones with a well developed sense of curiosity and desire to learn. I know there is a Dallas Paleontological Society and that is only 3 hours from Austin so it might be worth the journey once a month. ;)

Cheers.

First, a warm welcome to TFF from Austin also.  Ken is correct about the DPS, a fine organization with friendly folk and good field trips.  BUT, I've got another suggestion to attach to Ken's.  Right here in Austin is the Paleo Society of Austin, also a fine organization with friendly folk and good field trips.  I'd like to invite you to join PSA for a great experience with like-minded folks.

Ah, splendid! The Austin society was off my radar (sorry) and would be a great way of immersing yourself in fossil knowledge and helpful folk (just like TFF but without the keyboard).

Cheers.
