Help my 5th grader ID from her first fossil hunt

Hi!

Please excuse us if we aren’t following decorum with our photo sizes, staging, etc. Since the quarantine has us unexpectedly homeschooling, we took our 5th grader to collect some fossils and though I’m sure they are pretty basic, I’m having a hard time helping her ID all of them. Any info is appreciated, as we are absolute beginners. ☺️ These were collected at a random roadcut in northern PA, another in West Virginia, and also at Beltsville Lake (where we searched all day for a trilobite until I realized I probably don’t even know what the fragments would look like).

A couple more. You’ll notice the photo with the lighter is a rock that has these little clusters of rounded bumps. That’s what I’m trying to focus on.

Welcome to the Forum. :)

First item is a concretion

Second item is a plate of brachiopod internal molds, and bryozoan imprints.

Fourth item is  a brachiopod mold and bryozoan imprint.

First item, second photo - may be a mold of Pleurodictyum americanum.?

Second item, second photo is a great example of Taeniopora exigua branching bryozoan.

Third item is a plate of brachiopod molds and imprints.

4th item is an imprint, but need a picture of the rock flat on the table, looking down directly at the imprint.

Nice finds for a 5th grader!. :)

Congratulations.

I know literally nothing about this stuff beyond a couple basic geology classes I took in college a decade ago, so this is a great help as I didn’t even know where to begin. She will be so grateful for your help! You made a kid’s day!

By the way, these are all likely Devonian in age.  (Older than dinosaurs!) ;)

Glad I could help out some. :)

I’m happy to report she is furiously googling the info you’ve given her in her room right now —not the worst thing a kid could be doing in their free time!
She’s got another bucket full outside so if we see anything wildly different than what we’ve already posted, I’ll post more photos. So glad there are people smarter than I who are kind enough to help!

Welcome to the forum! Feel free to post anything you have a question about! We love to see pics! She had better luck then I did on my first fossil hunt!
