Large KemKem bone

Strepsodus

Recommended Posts

I have this large bone from the KemKem basin in my collection and was wondering if anyone can identify it?  I know little about Cretaceous fossils.  The fossil is quite one sided so the other side doesn’t show any structures.

Thanks,

Daniel

Looks like a possible partial theropod ilium.
Some more photos of different angles would be very useful for a good ID.

It's still quite hard to tell. It's a weird shape and the crust of matrix is making it hard to see what areas are complete or broken. There definitely look to be some repairs on this though.

We have so little published to compare against and your bone not being complete and fully prepared just makes it harder.

Here is an ischium from a croc. that might be a candidate but don't really know.

That second to last cross section is saying ilium to me. And it's quite large so I'm sticking with theropod ilium for now.

After a proper prep job it might become more clear.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I’ll label it as unidentified for now.
