Appears to be "lighter pine" -- resinous pine knots and heartwood.  Is it not mineralized?  Steamboats burned this wood in suspended iron baskets to illuminate their way up and down the sinuous Ocklawaha River at night.

It's been T- 2 days since I've pulled it up and now that its dried out some, when I knock on it, I get that wooden vibe- it is still very heavy though. The weight hasn't changed a whole lot after drying for over 60 hrs.

I imagined if it was heartwood, it wouldnt be heartless?  (Pun intended. Lol. )

Super cool artwork; thank you for sharing.

I'd likely give my eye-teeth to have had a chance to see that scene in real time.

I'm in love with old Florida.
