Florida Man
Hi everyone, I'm a long time fossil hunter here in Florida, but have only just joined the forum. I was hoping y'all could help me confirm some ID's that I found yesterday. Pics 1&2: Dire wolf canine? I always have trouble with big canines telling the difference. Pic 3: assorted canines, any ideas? Pic 4: marine mammal vert, any ideas? Pic 5: Mastodon/Mammoth toe bone? Pic 6&7: Peccary tusk? Pic 8-10: No idea Pic 9: tortoise claw core? Pic 10&11: dugong tooth? You can follow me on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwk2U0HOKFx8t_zKzftsoYw?view_as=subscriber I'll be uploading a video of the hunt in the next day or two. FossilsandScience
I’m not an expert in Florida fossils, but the Dire Wolf canine does look like an accurate identification. Nice find!

Shellseeker
Welcome to the Forum, Your photos are pretty dark, I used a halogen bulb on a rigged up floor lamp. You live in Florida so you have another. Take your photos in bright sunlight--- outside. This thread has a decent photo of a Mammoth/Mastodon toe bone like your #5 http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/103562-big-knuckle-bone-peace-river-megafauna/ I agree with Dire Wolf for #1, it is about the right size and it tends to be thinner than Bear or Cat. Need measurements on #2 canines and closeup photos. top and bottom may be dolphin, middle raccoon I just use a cellphone but closeups look like this: #4 Dolphin Vert ? -- need brighter photo #6 I think it might be an Equus or Camel "wolf" tooth... #8 It's an incisor. Maybe tapir #11 I think it is deer terminal phalanx. Here is one of @Harry Pristis great photos for comparison #12. Looks like a cat tooth maybe a p3... but closeups in bright light are required to really identify. The best use of the forum is to consider who you are trying to target in requesting identifications. If you request more than 1 or 2 identifications in a single thread, you likely put off occasional hunters, even those who hunt your area. In order to do what I just did (take a shot at each) , you are targeting fewer individuals on the forum who are addicted to hunting in the Bone Valley/ Peace River Formation. Make it easier on us. I do enjoy identifications. Jack 1 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
