Placoderm material from New York?

Found this nice slate blue piece in my recent trip to Western New York. What do you guys think? The piece isn’t very big, maybe half an inch - but it looks relatively thick, maybe a centimeter and a half?

I’d say that it’s probably placoderm. Geologic setting?

I can’t believe I blanked on including anything. Sorry! I found it in some pyrite beds in the Upper Hamilton Group at Fall Brook Falls.

Looks like placoderm to me too. Super awesome find!

Wooo! That’s great news :yay-smiley-1: messaged a couple professionals as well, will be interesting to see what they say. There’s also definitely more material underneath the rock, if only I could get to it....

I agree with the others. It looks very similar to fish fossils I've found in Devonian rocks near me.
