I could see a button-like with a bi-lobed root or as you have it pictured some sort of a denticle-like object with a round attachment surface. Can't say I've seen anything like that before while picking Florida micro-matrix. It is possible I may have encountered such an object but it didn't match any of my search images and didn't set-off the "biological bell" in my head to give it a second look. If the forked side looked a bit different I might consider a Pinfish tooth which have a double-cusped occlusal surface. Usually, you don't see them fully rooted. Cheers. -Ken Ken, Lagodon is the only fish tooth that I could come up with for a match. But I don't think that I have ever found one with a complete root, and as you say we don't see them very much.
