cthamon
Found slightly north of Columbia, SC in the middle of the state in a creek. Caught my eye because of the inside, but the outside seems to have some sort of non-natural looking inclusions. If you’re able, zoom in on the exterior to see what I mean. Any help is appreciated! Totally understand this could just be a rock but it seems too odd.
Top Trilo
I think its a neat rock, some other member can give you specifics. I don't see any fossil shape or texture which is why im leaning toward rock. 1 “If fossils are not "boggling" your mind then you are simply not doing it right” -Ken (digit) "No fossil is garbage, it´s just not completely preserved” -Franz (FranzBernhard) "With hammer in hand, the open horizon of time, and dear friends by my side, what can we not accomplish together?" -Kane (Kane) "We are in a way conquering time, reuniting members of a long lost family" -Quincy (Opabinia Blues) "I loved reading the trip reports, I loved the sharing, I loved the educational aspect, I loved the humor. NWARockhound
Looks like a rock to me as well. I've found rocks similar to that before, looks like jasper/chalcedony with quartz crystal clusters to me. Sometimes they weather oddly and leave strange shapes. I bet it'll be a beauty cleaned up!
LabRatKing
Those botroydal crystals on the interior face are amazing. Haven’t seen this sort of formation in this sort of mineral before. Nice find!
