Ludwigia
That was my thought as well. Looks like an impression as you stated. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
MacHoffman22
Thanks for the responses! I think in comparison that does seem accurate. Because most of my fossil hunting occurs around bodies of water I assume that most of my finds will be marine life. Ammonoids never crossed my mind. I appreciate it. The land has changed a lot over the millions of the years so the geography today can be the opposite of it millions of years ago. For example trilobites are found in Utah but it is very far from any ocean. “If fossils are not "boggling" your mind then you are simply not doing it right” -Ken (digit) "No fossil is garbage, it´s just not completely preserved” -Franz (FranzBernhard) "With hammer in hand, the open horizon of time, and dear friends by my side, what can we not accomplish together?" -Kane (Kane) "We are in a way conquering time, reuniting members of a long lost family" -Quincy (Opabinia Blues) "I loved reading the trip reports, I loved the sharing, I loved the educational aspect, I loved the humor. Most all lakes don't exist for millions of years. Basins that they are in fill with sediments, and river systems alter the landscape. Parts of South Dakota were covered by the western interior seaway during the Cretaceous at a time when sea levels were much higher than today.
