Dinobot
Hello all! my wife has ordered my early Xmas present. What should I be looking for, in authenticity? I watched the pawn stars episode with the elepahnt bird egg lol and it appears to have the elongated marks they talked about. 12" in height....here are a couple photos! Thanks for the input! Bobby Rico
I think it is a great gift. I believe they reconstructed from different egg shells fragments that was found in Madagascar. I don’t know anything more than that sorry . Cheers Bobby
Dinobot
Thanks Bobby, I understand the complete ones are faked as there very few known to exist, but the recostructed ones im not sure what to look for.

I don’t much about them sometimes they are restored , colour matched and made to look complete. Kosmoceras
I agree with Bobby it looks like a composite made up of shell fragments from several different eggs. As long as it is sold as such with a price that reflects this then I don't see a problem, but it depends on what you are after.

Yes its was listed as such the paleo on pawn stars said that sometimes even the Reconstructed ones are sometimes faked with porcelain, so I wasn't sure if there was a way to tell
Bobby Rico
This looks like an interesting program if you can find it in it’s entirety.

HamptonsDoc
This is typical for composited elephant bird eggs. Whole ones are extremely rare (maybe only a few dozen of them found) and will set you back the price of an entry level Mercedes!
-Andy-
I echo the other opinions that it's a composite, but it's a lovely X'mas gift no matter what 1 Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!
