Merry Christmas all, here is my Christmas present from my daughter, she quietly came and took photographs of some of my fossils, then had them developed to “National Geographic” quality, then framed. On the back she wrote to “The Professor”with love. I can’t stop looking at them, I can see more detail than ever before, so thoughtful :rolleyes:EAE49871-AEA6-45FB-A2B5-1912A8C8D721.thumb.jpeg.9aae21f1149da73973fdb88d1e51e4e9.jpeg

Got some nice teeth today, I am the only one in my family or extended friend group who collects fossils, so I buy them myself, but I still find it really fun opening them up:)

Well I guess I will put up some of the presents that I received from my wife this morning. I will start with the fossil related items.

2020 Dinosaur Ornament-

A nice coaster for my desk.

A great dancing T-Rex.

IMG_5273.jpg.e8e5870469633432e9ec4fdafc1a05fd.jpg

Leave it to my wife to spell my Fossil Forum name correctly, I think in the past I mentioned that I hit an "I" instead of the "U" for Nimravus, but since I did not know how to change it, I left it be. Here is a great lighted T-Rex Sign with the name Nimravus- I really love this.

IMG_5276.jpg.9a8f38025c2ecca0611e56fc8b6b87fd.jpg

She did wrap some climbing t-shirts for me in these cool Dino boxes.

IMG_5271.jpg.e6bef0daf17a8f2fc5c00b823fbe577c.jpg

Now onto the fossils. She knows that I have switched focus recently to tracks and trackways, so she got me several tetrapod trackways, mostly Batrachichnus and Dromopus. There are also examples of ripple marks, rain drop impressions and impressions of the Permian conifer Walchia.

All but one of these pieces are from the-

Merry Christmas! I received a handheld digital microscope from my parents so that I can finally take pictures of some of my smaller fossils. After a couple of hours we finally got it to work, and I love it! My brother bought me some new fossils to add to my collection. He likes to joke that my entire collection is plants and sea life, so that's what he bought me. I love them too!

Pliosaur Vertebra: Stretosaurus (Pliosaurus) cf. macromerus from England

Seed Cone from Morocco

Crocodile Tooth from Morocco

Those Permian fossils are awesome! Much different fauna represented than what I see more frequently with east coast Triassic/Jurassic trace fossils.

The Mrs bought me this with a bit of my help.

It’s very technical and tbh a bit beyond me. With hindsight may not have been my first choice.
But am pleased I have it in my library

Merry Christmas everybody!! Got some cool fossils so thought I would share.

Got this assortment from my parents, great variety but unfortunately not a ton of information about the particular specimens collected. Might post a fossil id thread later and see if anyone has more information but with 0 provenance I am not sure how much can be done. Definitely some neat pieces in here though!! Lot of firsts!

And of course the extremely cool gift which made the whole holiday for me is this wonderful meg tooth from my boyfriend!! It's huge!! I am so excited!

No problem, it takes usually about 4 weeks from Europe to the US with ordinary mail. Don´t know how long some express service would take.

What we have to consider is the C-thing. This has slowed down many things or makes them impossible. For example, during spring time, it was not possible to send something to Canada for several months. At the moment, postal connection to the UK is closed.

We will see, I am usually not the most impatient person ;).

Franz Bernhard

The last batch I sent to myself in October took between 5 to 8 days to make it from the French post office to my doorstep in Montreal . Meanwhile my wife sent some stuff to France beginning of November , not yet there ... Go Figure !

My wife and I decided to not get each other a large (and usually expensive) present this year. Opting instead to spend more on the kids. However, we did get each other a small stocking stuffer gift. Here was mine; even though it is too big to fit in a stocking. Not a fossil, but fossil related.

Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Life: The definitive visual guide to prehistoric animals. A Smithsonian volume published by DK books.

“DINOSAURS” is written in large print on the cover, but thankfully (as dinosaurs are not my focus) they make up a small percentage of what can be found within the pages. A marketing ploy I suspect.

The book covers everything from the formation of the earth to every time period after, climate change, evolution, how fossils are created, and much more. There is a section for each period describing what the world was like then, giving a timeline of important events, as well as a section on invertebrates and vertebrates examples found. It’s a nice reference book with a wealth of general information. Not a bad book to cozy up with while the kids run amuck on this cold day.

The wife done good! :D

This is a nice one ! It has been edited many times in various format  and I find the mix of iconography and text a success . I have a german edition .

Just opened the parcel from @marguy, here it is:

MerryChristmas_marguy.thumb.jpg.a1e91dce429ed5b5e21d962b645ad370.jpg

Wonderfull! I did not expect so much variation and so good preservation. There are two hippuritid pseudocolonies, four radiolitids, three brachiopods, three gryphea??/exogyra?? (don´t know) and a piece of jet, of course ;). At least I am able to date these to the upper Cretaceous ;).

Thanks so much, @marguy, this was totally unexpected.

This is the only fossil related present I got this year. A biography of William Buckland, the man who described the first dinosaur.
