Wow! Those are some awesome finds! I love all of the scale tree pieces, especially the cones!

Very nice finds. I hope I can make one last trip to the shale dump before the year ends.  Now that the snakes are hibernating and the hornets hiding from the cold, hunting would be safe. I have to keep eyes out for the hunters too. Sadly, they are all related to me. The dump is on family owned land. My daughter takes me and she says watch out for your brother. He hunts while drinking.  Stay safe!

Gery awesome finds as usual! That mixed plate is wonderful!

So the pinkish/green coloration struck me on the cone plate and the knobby/raised/bumps that almost looks a bit segmented just above where your chisel mark is...anything interesting going on there--did you happen to notice? Just unidentifiable plant debris?

I, too, love the cones.

And this Neuropteris plate looks interesting because the terminal leaflets (?) look quite elongated:

Is that how they usually look?

Hey Gery, thanks for the additional photos. I cant make out what's going on there...maybe its just another poorly preserved cone or some other debris that my brain is trying to turn into something identifiable. The dissimilar coloration and uneven textures sure makes me wonder.

Those extra finds/photos are very nice as well!
