Is this petrification or sedimentation? Never found before.

I found this while rock hounding in the desert out of Del Rio, Texas. I've never looked for , nor ever 

found any petrified wood before, so I really have no point of reference.

If you guys/ gals could help me, that would be greatly appreciated .

I’m with sedimentary layers, although other angles may change my mind.

I agree, these are sedimentary layers.

I think sediment also.  Petrified wood can have that linear look to it, but one difference is that the sedimentary rock will feel kind of gritty to the touch, but petrified wood will often feel more slick or smooth.
