Possible worm fossil?

Hi everyone,

 

So, I’m out volunteering at a school. A kid just found this, and wanted to show it to me. He thinks it’s a fossil, and I think so too.

 

I want to be sure. 

 

To be honest, it may be a worm fossil. Even I think so.

 

What do you guys think it is? A fossil?

I don't think it is a fossil worm, but a fossil impression from something larger, given that I can see where it was fractured. It could be a number of things, but you may want to state the location of the find to assist in identification.

Not a worm. 

I would guess at a fragment of brachiopod shell.

Thanks for the clarification. To be honest, I’m a little jealous he beat me to the find!
