South dakota42
Found on Missourri river sandbar. Windy days have removed finer sand. Fossil was sitting on surface. Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. Have you done a burn test to establish whether it is mineralized or not? Hold the bone to a flame. If it burns or smells like burning hair, it is modern. If it is unaffected, it is fossilized. LabRatKing
I have some similar specimens from the Missouri and tributaries. A burn test is almost mandatory. These dark colored ones almost always end up be historical rather than fossil.
