Mammal Tooth From Popes Creek Sands Formation Virginia

This tooth was found last week as float while sifting in this Lower Calvert formation member. All of the other finds were of marine origin, shark teeth, shark verts. , ray plates, etc. Many thanks for your input!

It's a selenodont artiodactyl m3 -- probably from a cow.

Thanks Harry, so most likely a modern tooth.

I don't know.  I really don't see the bovine stylid, although the tooth is so dark it's hard to tell for sure. Also, it seems small for a cow or other bovine.

I'm pretty confident it's bovid.  Gizmo has those 'Coyote Ugly' thumbs!
