msarmstrong
While out for a walk my son picked up this rock. He thinks it is a fossil but I’m not so sure. If it is he would love to know what kind of fossil it is and if it isn’t we would love to know what has caused these lines. It was a surface find in Southern Alberta just on a dirt path at the top of a coulee. It is about the size of an average females thumbnail. The front has lines all over it. The back is smooth. thank you for any insight you can give!
Rockwood
I wouldn't call it a definite identification, but there indications that it could be a fragment of fossil bone.

I don't think so. When I click on the picture and click to close up, I could only see minerals (calcium or feldspar) on the inside.
Fossildude19
Looks like a weathered stone, to me. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." I can't really disagree, but if you could show us the second photo with a bit better lighting it would put any doubts to rest.
