tonalaxent
We were at Whiskey Bridge outside of Bryan, Texas looking for fossils. Found a weird rock, but my kids think that it is something.
Haravex
Geological in origin, couldn't say more than that maybe a concretion?
Myrmica
I am also not seeing anything obvious but it would help if you could post a more focused version of the first photo.
Rockwood
I've had something similar explained as varying oxidation states of iron within the rock.
Mahnmut
Hí tonalaxent and welcome to the forum! could you point out to us, maybe together with sharper pictures, which part of the stone caught your attention? Sometimes its the overall shape, while from the picture someone else tries to explain that little dark spot. or the other way round. tonalaxent
I appreciate it! I didn't think that it was a fossil, but my kids were convinced that it was. It definitely didn't look like other rocks in the area. We just started looking for fossils and found a few small fossils (gastropods, stingray tooth, barracuda tooth, shark tooth), but if we find items that we can't identify, we'll definitely be asking you guys!! Appreciate the help!
