Some type of tooth?

Unfortunately this is just a rock. It doesn't display the symmetry, enamel, or any internal or external structures indicative of a tooth.

Would it be "common" to find numerous pieces of the same shaped rock in one place....all within a 3 foot square? Just curious if this is a normal thing or type of rock. Thank you.

Well, if they are fragments of a bigger rock, it would be the same no matter if the rock to begin with was a fossil or not.

It is not "uncommon" to find similarly shaped/weathered types of rocks in one area, especially if they are the same type of rock.

You might consider joining a local rock/mineral/fossil club, to get a better idea of what can be found in your area, and meet up with more experienced people near you.
