Chris finner
Ok so I’m interested in how the large structure is formed (the one in three segments). I’m just interested for my own education.. I took it out of a large bolder and it was orientated as it is on the carpet with a long thin piece above it.. At first I hoped it was one large piece however looking at it I’m not that sure I think the piece that scene three segments is just some form of pyrite?? The long finger like piece with the pale end at first I was hoping was bones and then I told myself into the fact it just wasn’t but then I read on this forum that if you stick your tongue on bone it will stick and it does.... Yes I have been licking rocks!! The round pyrite nodule Was dug out of the large piece of shale, a very large piece of shale!!! I almost gave up on it because it just was not going to crack but then a small piece came off and I was left with a very small shiny golden knob so I persevered and then it finally cracked open to leave something that I thought maybe a bellamight?? However it’s fat in the middle which doesn’t seem to seem quite right I would appreciate any help in identifying what that whatever it is??? Maybe coprolite???? Ludwigia
I think that that last one is a belemnite phragmocone. 1 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Chris finner
Would that account for the fat middle ?

The bulge could be caused by gas build up similar to what is known as an exploded fish.
Chris finner
I don’t know why I find the thought of exploding fish funny.... but I do With regards to the thing in the second and third photo... does the sticky young test prove anything or am I just frenching a porous rock??? most action I’ve had for a while so it’s win win really
Mahnmut
Well, as long as you both enyoyed it... It is not a proof, there are porous rock surfaces that may make your tongue stick without being bone. Dry clay does it too. I rather fear its not bone, but not sure.
