Daspletosaurus tooth?

Josesaurus rex

Recommended Posts

Hello again.

I saw this supposedly Daspletosaurus tooth, said to be from the Two Medicine Formation, Montana. It measures approximately 1.5 inches.

If you could help me, I would appreciate it.

Thanks:dinothumb:

It's very hard to differentiate between Daspletosaurus and Gorgosaurus as far as that locality goes. You'd need serration counts to get an ID, potentially. Troodon discusses it here

You first need to obtain a locality to determine if its actually from the TMF and then a serration count like I mention in the topic shown above no guarantee either way.  That size very difficult to ID.  It's a nice indeterminate tyrannosaurid

Ok, thanks, @BellamyBlake and @Troodon

I'll ask the seller that to see if he can. The denticle count should be the amount every 5 millimeters or not?

Read step 2 on the topic BB posted

I read step two, @Troodon I think that from the photos the tooth resembles a Distal Dentary position, but I could not be sure obviously nor be able to say how many denticles it has per 5 mm without having the tooth in my hands.  And I don't think the seller has that much patience to do all that.  If I can buy it, I could do that, I hope the seller accepts the offer.  Greetings and thanks again.

Está bien, pero obtenga una ubicación para que sepamos que es del TMF

In the description it says Montana, Must it be something more specific than that?

Montana also has the Judith River Formation. You'll want a county
