Nimravis
Today I had the great pleasure to meet a Fossil Forum member @Mark Kmiecik who also loves Mazon Creek fossils. I knew I was near his residence and I contacted him and he told to come on over. We visited for a couple of hours talking about cataloging, past fossil locations that we hunted and looked at some of his collection. Below are pics that I took of a couple pics of his fossils to look at better detail using an I-Phone. Does anyone have any idea what this next one is? Sorry I did not use a scale of any type since I was just playing with the phone. The fossil itself is about 1 1/4” across, the whole concretion might be a little over 1 1/2”. Mark was also kind enough to give me 6 boxed plates of unprepared Green River fish that he purchased from Ulrich’s Fossils in Kemmerer, WY, about 13 years ago. Thanks again Mark, hopefully I can find some time to tackle these.
bigred97
Such great fun to spend time talking to another Mazon Creek enthusiast! And how nice of @Mark Kmiecik to gift you those fish. Thanks for the report! Not sure about the unidentified one, but perhaps Rhacophyllum fucoideum? It's on p249 of the new Wittry flora book. Fig. 3 looks similar, at least.

Mark Kmiecik
12 hours ago, stats said: Could be... Or, Cyclopteris. What locality, Mark? Cheers, Rich In Mazon Creek, between Holderman and Benson Roads. It's definitely not Cyclopteris. I have afew specimens of that, and this is completely differently shaped, different "venation" and is three-dimensional. Haven't seen any type of flora that comes close. Perhaps it's fauna. I don't know. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
deutscheben
Sounds like a nice visit! Could that fossil be some kind of seed or nut? It reminds me of a sort of squashed Trigonocarpus.
