ZenMachine
Any ideas? Looked a little like scales to me? Found in the North east coast of N. Ireland.
ZenMachine
From looking at some other threads I'm wondering if sponge fossil?
Rockwood
Sorry. I don't see reason to call this a fossil.

Brandy Cole
Could this be an impression fossil?

I suppose it could, but does it really look like there is a reason to think this represents a bedding plane ?
Brandy Cole
Just now, Rockwood said: I suppose it could, but does it really look like there is a reason to think this represents a bedding plane ? I'm not sure. I only asked because I found an impression fossil on a similar looking pebble once.
val horn
i am seeing a circular hole in one edge -- could it be a piece of button.
Agent_Zigzag
Greetings! I could see some reasons why you think it is a piece of fossil. but I think it is just a nice-looking stone which would be a beautiful decoration for a nice fish tank
westcoast
Certainly the pattern would have caught my eye too, however it is too worn and not enough detail preserved to say much, I would add that scales are very much at the lower end of likelihood. A sharper image may help, holding specimens while photographing rarely works.
