Thefossildude
Hi Found on the beach in Venice Florida. Rounded fossil, smooth outer surface. Looks enamel. To me, it looks like a piece of a mastodon molar fragment. What do the experts say?
Quriosity
At least this looks too big and thick for a fish tooth. I'd go for a fragment of mammal tooth as well.
Thefossildude
Any idea of the mammal? Looks mastodon enamel considering the thickness and surface texture. Can anyone confirm?

Can anyone confirm? Here is a piece of Gomphothere (Miocene to early Pleistocene of Florida). I think your tooth fragment is more likely Mastodon because it is primarily Florida Pleistocene and is far more common than Gomphothere. Your fragment is heavily water worn... likely salt water worn. I know of no way to differentiate Mastodon from Gomphothere given the size and wear on your find. 1 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
