Hi, i recently received those very nice sponges from @badeend.

I asse they're all Hexactinellids.

I know identfying sponges even when you have them un grand is a hard thing to do.

Any help to try a more precise ID is greatly welcome.

Here is the number1, a glass sponges ?

Are you sure the locality name Kalberbeg is correct? Maybe it's Kalberg? :headscratch:

That's correct. I wasn't sure, so I thought it's from Netherlands. :)

I'm not specialist in sponges, so I could be wrong, but the first specimen reminds me somehow of Ventriculites genus (the external ornamentation and the ondulations of the wall in transverse section).

Btw, it's a nice specimen!

That site show really nice sponges.

I found this site https://www.cfk-fossilien.de/die-schwammriffe-des-oberjura-in-der-noerdlichen-frankenalb/

It presents a list of sponges and so, i think i've found an answer for those ones :

Stauroderma sp

IMG_20211226_132759.thumb.jpg.7da048deafba3776bfb422ee7432495a.jpg

You're right @abyssunder, this one is a ventraculites

IMG_20211226_132512.thumb.jpg.15c2619c81a0391f5f06304863bee57d.jpg

This one is probably a Trochobolus (or maybe a Cypellia)

IMG_20211226_132925.thumb.jpg.dbbe3f966ab62d7ca46ec8e3e3da492c.jpg

For that one, on the left, i think maybe tremadyction, but with great doubts

He's our expert in sponges. :)

It's a very busy man, but maybe will see your request in short time and will give a good ID.

If he's not on the field at the other side of the world, or stuck in his lab studying a precambrian sponge to see if it has spicules or not.:fingerscrossed:
