I believe @Harry Pristis might know if there are subtle differences between these two very similar tooth types. You can also test for modern bone versus older mineralized bone (unless you are thinking these are historic bison and not an older extinct species). Holding the tooth over a flame will emit a nasty "burning hair" smell as the collagen protein burns in a relatively modern fossil. Fully mineralized fossils (Pleistocene species of bison) would be mineralized and would not produce the stink during the test. Welcome to the forum!
