Siderite nodules containing fossils

Hi, I have noticed that in the past in the UK various fossils have been found at mines like Crock Hey in siderite nodules, I know of some open cast mines in my area with carboniferous strata of County Durham, is there a chance these could contain such siderite nodules? I have done some research and these type of nodules appear at Howick bay but im not sure if they appear further south at places like whitley bay/seaton sluice

Best way to find out is to go take a look. It will at least get you out of the house out into some fresh air. Or you can come to Illinois. We have those at Mazon Creek.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

id love to go lol, but money and all that

You can't take it with you..you don't see fossils with fat wallets do you?  :default_rofl: I understand the pain too many great fossil destinations and too little time and money to travel.

A lot of locations like Crock Hey or Crockhey are from old coal mines now closed. They maybe some open cast mines that you still can collect at? There is a place somewhere near Manchester but I have never been, Because the mining industry has stopped in the U.K. a long time ago there really is not much material available to purchase. I have only plant material sadly and if fauna  does turn up on the market their is a lot of demand for it.
