Hi, anyone able to narrow this down. Its a small tooth, I assume raptor. But could it be baby Nano? No serrations. 3mm.

Hope pics are ok. It was tricky.

I don't think these photos are good enough to make any kind of positive/accurate ID.  :(

Cropped and brightened:

Thanks. Yeah, given the size and my not-so-good phone, getting better photos was tricky. Even with my magnifying glass which I used to zoom it..

Thanks for enhancing it

the second bunch of photos are much better.  But I cannot give it a name beyond theropod indet.  maybe troodon can make an educated guess.

Suggest to all collectors that they should invest in a USB scope.  They are inexpensive and can get you decent photos to help in an ID.   I can take a guess but unwilling to do so without clear photos it's an indet. theropod at the moment.

The clearish blob bit at the bottom is I believe glue, it was mounted (lightly) on a bit of backing.

Nice much better, unfortunately there is nothing diagnostic to definitively point to any specific dinosaur. These micro teeth can be very difficult to call.  Can be anything from a germ tooth to that of undescribed microraptor.   You cannot rule out Nano but would have expected a more rectangular shaped base and the pinch on one side is a v groove but its only 3mm so who knows.

Its a very cool tooth, not that many around this size and like I said can be hard to positively ID.

  • Thank You 1
