Brandy Cole
Thanks @JohnJ I've realized I'm very lucky to live near a good exposure. This one was so fragile that it couldn't have been exposed for very long. Some places inside it were paper thin.

Some places inside it were paper thin. Yup. Proboscidean skulls have a lot of hollow spaces (sinuses) separated by fairly thin blade-like bone that provides strength without much weight--an important consideration when you've got such a huge skull. When we find gomphothere skulls at the Montbrook site here in Florida they are either in really nice shape or they have been crushed and gone to pieces--very little in between. Cheers. -Ken

Shellseeker
Congratulations Brandy.. A great high quality find. Even in the less destructive sediments of Florida, acquiring a Proboscidean ear is exceedingly rare, and I have never seen one with so much skull material outside of a museum.
