After almost 2 years I finally got my swam blaster up and running. Got to prep my first fossil since June 2019! Here are a few pieces I’ve done so far.

Great prep job!!! One suggestion I have for a youth member who I hope will likely show us many photos for years to come, not about prepping but about photography. We would enjoy your creations better if a scale was added and the pictures cropped so that the fossil is the prominent item in the picture. For example, in one picture, your trilobite image  is 6 cm squared yet  the photo is 252 cm squared. That is 246 cm squared of non fossil image!! Keep up the good work!

Nice work.  Looks like you are planning to have a lot of fun in the future.  I agree with the photo comments... photos of fossils are more interesting than photos of hands.  : )

Beautiful bugs! Keep up the good work.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

You did a very good job on this one! That is a beautiful trilobite. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

@JamesAndTheFossilPeach Great work on the preps! Keep it up. Moy one suggestions are really nit-picky things but they goes a long way in the presentation of your specimens (and says a lot about you as a prepper). Don't focus wholly on the specimen without consideration of the surrounding matrix. Spend a little time sculpting the matrix around the fossil if you have to go deep on the prep a bit of a slope really helps to keep shadows from obscuring the specimen when it's on display. I know this condition doesn't exist with these specimens but I figured I'd throw it out there. Second, spend some time removing your tool marks. This is one of the signs of a well rounded prepper. Most simply prep the fossil without thinking about the surrounding matrix at all. Taking the time to remove tool marks takes away potential distractions from the viewer. This is something that I didn't learn until a few years ago, so I figured I'd pay it forward. :thumbsu:

Yeah will do. I totally would remove the prep lines if I had the tools. Unfortunate my only scribe broke a little while back so I’m only running the blaster. Should have a dremmel and another scribe here within a week or so so I’ll hopefully be able to get those done!

I think this is most likely Kainops raymondi, but I'm not 100,% certain on that.

Nice prep!! :thumbsu:
