Kbsib
This bone was found on the beach this morning. It was at the shoreline. I’ve included photos but this is my first post so please let me know if other information is needed. The piece measures 7-10cm. Clearly it is very worn so I don’t know if identification is possible. Any ideas are welcome and appreciated
fossilhunter21
Nice find! I wish I could be of some help, but I don't really know much about bones. But, @Shellseeker and, @Harry Pristis know a lot about bones, and they may be able to help you figure this one out. Harry Pristis
Looks like a periotic from large animal. I don't recognize it, but Shellseeker will know. 3 1 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest

Kbsib
Thanks so much for the information! I’ll read the discussion you attached and look forward to hearing from @Boesse. The photos of mastodon and mammoth are incredible. My husband and I have been trying to learn more about identifying earbones and haven’t had much success. It would be very ironic if that’s what this turned out to be. Thanks again
