Kathi
Would you identify the first fossil a Spiny Softshell Turtle Shell Fossil, anyone? anyone? It came with some other North American east coast / Florida fossils. The second light colored one is labeled Snapper Turtle Shell. Any issues with this? jpc
The first one is definitely soft shell. Whether it is spiny or not... who knows? Well, maybe someone here who knows FL fossils better than me can say. The second one does not look like bone from here.
Kathi
Hi jpc, thank you, my mistake, the second one is labeled Snapper Turtle Shell
jpc
same answer... turtle shell is made of bone, so I was saying that I do not think it is a piece of snapper shell. : ) I am not terribly familiar with snapper fossils, but it just does not look like turtle shell or bone of any kind. 1
val horn
. The first is soft shell turtle and the second may not be fossil at all. It may be eroded sandstone
