Possible Scute?

Found in the peace river. Is this a  glypt scute? Almost looks sandstone but not sure if fossils end up being sandstone. Any ideas?

I dont think so.  turtle would show clear medullary bone, croc needs the circular hollows and for armadillo and sloth i expect it to look like a fancy short bread cookie, smooth with an indented border.

Looks like an igneous rock to me.

Kind of looks like worn piece of asphalt, to me.

I keep plenty of things in my ? Box  sometimes i  recognize it later . Sometimes it goes in the rock garden after a while,  if it was interesting enough to pick up i would keep it until i had  no questions.  I keep remembering some pieces of mammoth skull that i didnt recognize and left in the peace river.

When I first started, I tossed away Armadillo Osteoderms, thinking they were asphalt. It seems to have roughly the shape , and heavily eroded.  Hard to say what it might have been,  but you should look at some armadillo osteoderms.

On my trip to the Peace River I threw out a giant sloth tooth. That was months ago and I'm still kicking myself.
