JBkansas
I found this rock and I want to try and preserve it before all of the fossils fall out (it has numerous surface micro fossils in layers, ?mass mortality). It's in the shape of a triangular pyramid and fossil layers are prominent on the front and one side. I considered trying to exposing the fossils on the back but I think it may be better having a side I can pick it up by without losing fossils. Is there a best sealant/protector for this type of piece? TIA for your time and help. Edited June 12, 2022 by JBkansas
Randyw
I’ve always been partial to paraloid as a preservative.

Does it do well with holding on surface microfossils? Edited June 12, 2022 by JBkansas
Ptychodus04
Are the fossils actually loose? If not, then you don't need to do anything to it. If they are loose, get some Paraloid B72 and dissolve 1 part Paraloid in 50 parts acetone or Ethanol. Brush this onto the surface evenly and let it dry. This will consolidate the fossils and the rock. 1 Regards, Kris Global Paleo Services, LLC https://globalpaleoservices.com http://instagram.com/globalpaleoservices http://instagram.com/kris.howe
jpc
Just by looking at the photo, it looks like this needs no preservative.
